Apple tree'south low-cardinal production rollout on Tuesday included updated iMacs and a new $999 MacBook, but one of its more innovative new offerings deserves a closer expect: the Magic Mouse. Featuring multitouch features borrowed from the iPhone, iPod Touch, and MacBook Pro, Apple'southward latest pointing device is a clever melding of the traditional desktop mouse with the swiping and swirling gestures of today's touchscreens.
The Magic Mouse comes with the new iMacs, and sells separately for $69. It's a sleek, low-slung wireless pointer with a smooth height trounce. There are no buttons or whorl wheels.
No buttons? Well, non exactly. The top shell is actually one giant button. Information technology'south a multitouch sensor that allows yous to click anywhere.
The device tracks similar a conventional mouse. To right-click or actuate a shortcut menu, y'all click the height-correct corner of the mouse. Lefties tin configure Magic Mouse to exercise the same thing with a top-left click.
Magic Mouse brings iPhone-similar scrolling to the desktop. To whorl through a Web folio or certificate, you run your finger vertically up and down the mouse's summit beat out.
